Job Overview:
The Behavior Technician provides support and consultation to patients within the Long-Term Care Center and the treatment team to promote behavioral stability of patients. The Behavior Technician assists in the implementation of behavior plans, promotes the therapeutic milieu and provides teaching and support to Long-Term Care Team.
Qualifications:
Required:
Bachelor's degree in psychology, rehabilitation counseling, social work, special education, or related field
American Heart Association (AHA) BLS Provider Certification
Minimum of 1-2 years of experience providing behavioral support in psychiatric or academic setting with children and|or adolescents using behavior analytic interventions
Preferred:
Completed coursework in Behavior Assessment and Intervention preferred Completed coursework in Ethics of either Applied Behavior Analysis or American Psychological Association
Experience with Crisis Intervention
Certifications and Licenses Required:
- American Heart Association (AHA) BLS Provider Certification
Scheduling Requirements:
Full Time
40 hours/week
Essential Functions:
Data collection and analysis
Collaborate with treatment team in development and implementation of patient behavior plans
Program implementation that includes skill acquisition and behavior reduction programs
Coordinate and provide diversional activities to patients in collaboration with the therapy team, specifically the Child Life and Recreation Therapists, Rec|Child Life Assistants, etc.
Assist treatment team in promoting patient behavioral compliance and treatment adherence through discussion, active problem-solving, modeling and direct provision of patient care
Work with children with special needs and their caregivers
Coordinate communication within the Long-Term Care Center, and community providers including early intervention, school, therapy, and healthcare professionals
May assist with supervision of support staff that primarily implements behavior plans
May educate families, staff and caregivers, on best practices of behavior intervention
Other functions as assigned by supervisor(s)
