The Solid Waste Management{rel="nofollow"} (SWM) program within the Department of Ecology is looking to fill a* Regional Planner & Grant Manager (Environmental Specialist 4) (In-Training)* position. This position is locatedin our *Northwest Region Office (NWRO) inShoreline, WA{rel="nofollow"}. *Upon hire, you must live within a commutable distance from the duty station.

In this role, you will serve as a senior staff environmental specialist and region expert for implementing the Local Solid Waste Financial Assistance (LSWFA) Program in the Northwest Region. You will manage LSWFA grants awarded to local governments in the Northwest Region to support local solid waste management or solid waste regulatory programs consistent with local comprehensive solid and hazardous waste management plans and pertinent regulations and guidelines. You will provide consultation and technical assistance to grant recipients, evaluate grant projects and applications, and negotiate grant agreements resulting in projects which promote solid waste reduction, reuse, and recycling and environmentally protective sustainable resource management practices, including innovative materials management.

*Please Note: *The salary posted above includes the additional 5% premium pay that this position will receive due to its location in Shoreline, WA in King County.   *Note: *This position offers a career path and on-the-job training. This position allows you to progress through the Environmental Specialist field and achieve the goal class of an Environmental Specialist 4 (ES4). Candidates will be considered at the ES2, ES3 and the ES4 levels, depending on their qualifications. For salary levels for each, please see the qualifications section.
