Summary:

The Radiation Therapy Manager (RTM) serves as one of the chief therapists at the Perelman Center for Advanced Medicine.

This individual has oversight and primary focus in one of three assigned areas: Proton Therapy, Photon Therapy or Simulation/imaging/high dose rate brachytherapy. The RTM serves as a supervisor of the Radiation Therapists and provides direction and support for all aspects of daily and technical therapy operations, as well as troubleshooting. The RTM facilitates the delivery of high quality preparation and administration of radiation treatments and imaging in collaboration with Physicians, Physicists, Dosimetrists, Nursing and support staff. With the Associate Director of Radiation Therapy, the RTM provisions the development and implementation of technical programs, quality assurance, patient safety, regulatory and compliance oversight, vendor relations, and technological assessment.

The RTM is responsible for the team of therapists who work in the assigned area and team operations, continuous process improvement, and ongoing development of and adherence to standards and protocols. The RTM is responsible for the recruitment, selection, evaluation, scheduling and training of personnel.

The RTM assists in the delivery of care when appropriate and or necessary. The RTM oversees Radiation Therapist billing tasks, coordinates patient flow, regularly reviews practices for policy and procedure update, oversees therapy competencies, development and implementation, and provides technical representation on departmental quality assurance committee. The RTM manages personnel, equipment and supply costs in accordance with budget

Responsibilities:

Compliance: Ensure compliance with all state, federal and other applicable regulatory bodies and safety standards (departmental, institutional, Joint Commission, Apex, State, etc.). Ensure patient treatments meet all safety expectations and guidelines. Proactively monitor compliance and safety adherence and enforce necessary actions to maintain the highest level of safety, reliability and regulatory compliance. Must be able to manage the Therapists on new treatments, and proficient in treatment and imaging technology or equipment utilized by the Department.

Clinical: provides direct daily supervision of Radiation Therapists’ performance and treatment delivery/imaging processes to ensure timely, safe, efficient patient care. Maintains robust knowledge of treatment and imaging modalities. Manages and coordinates delivery of patient care for assigned patient care area. Provides input for development of and is responsible for RTT adherence to all therapy related policies and procedures relevant to the scope of practice. Regularly monitors, collects and reviews data sources to create and maintain benchmarks and identify other opportunities to advance clinical efficiency, processes, and employee, patient and customer experience. Engages in research, education, patient advocacy and administrative activities as assigned.

Leadership : Provide administration over the day-to-day management of radiation therapy personnel and operations at the Perelman Center. Ensures productivity levels are maintained. Encourages RTT in career growth via the therapist career ladder. Leads the team of radiation therapists to support a safe, high-quality environment for care delivery. Oversee RTT personnel actions including hiring, training, performance appraisals, disciplinary actions, terminations and other related activities. Must build and maintain rapport with team. Must be a proven technical expert. Participates in entity and department wide initiatives. Regularly attends and participates in meetings and provides therapy-related perspective.

Quality Improvement : Experience in the oversight of programs to improve efficiency and quality of patient care and workflows. Demonstrates experience in developing and monitoring quality initiatives from inception through maintenance. Promote safe care via Condition Reporting system. Investigates CRS and Safety Net reports as appropriate. Report findings and provides remediation as appropriate.

Project Management: Provides leadership from inception through maintenance of projects, initiatives and special assignments. Aligns teams, communicates effectively across the clinical levels, prepares and provides deliverables, and meets project objectives on time and within budget. Works with cross functional teams.

Financial Management: Reviews financial reports independently and as distributed by Financial professionals and Associate Director of Radiation Therapy. Actively manages supply and equipment costs and communicates expected variations from budget proactively and regularly. Balances staffing models to achieve budget targets and organizational objectives.

Credentials:

  • Radiologic Technologist (Required)

  • ARRT

Education or Equivalent Experience:

Bachelor's degree with 5 years of Radiation Therapy experience
