Robert Half Cost Accountant in Oxnard, California

Description We are seeking a Cost Accountant based in Oxnard, California. The chosen candidate will be instrumental in supporting our operations teams, driving cost-related initiatives, and managing large datasets. This role requires a proactive individual who can adapt to a changing environment, develop and implement new processes, and efficiently prioritize workloads.

Responsibilities:

• Create and maintain absorption-based production standards including standard cost estimates, product set-up costs, activity rates, work cells, overhead allocations, and other standard cost-related activities.

• Prepare monthly financial closing for manufacturing variances, scrap by product, labor, and manufacturing overhead variances.

• Set up and maintain daily labor reporting and variance analysis to drive efficiency analysis.

• Perform time studies to track labor efficiency across shifts and lines.

• Set up accurate throughput and downtime reporting on our operations system for daily review.

• Review all new BOM set-ups and routings to ensure accurate inventory valuation.

• Manage and maintain report of capital spends and associated cost-saving project reporting.

• Work closely with the operations team on tracking all projects for improvement efficiencies and reporting upon them monthly.

• Lead annual review of production standards with plants and executive leadership team to ensure cost management, optimization, full fixed and variable absorption, and product/customer margin.

• Collaborate with executive leadership team with forecasting and budgeting.

• Review ad hoc analysis and perform other responsibilities as assigned.

• Month End Close Requirements • Possess a strong understanding and practical experience in Cost Analysis

• Skilled in handling Manufacturing Variance tasks and issues

• Experience in performing Month End Close procedures

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field

• Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Management Accountant (CMA) is a plus

• Proficiency in using accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite

• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

• Strong verbal and written communication skills

• Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines

• Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and financial regulations.
