US Army Corps of Engineers Maintenance Mechanic Supervisor in New Orleans, Louisiana

  • Plans work schedules and sequence of operations for subordinates.
  • Establishes priorities, schedules, and deadlines.
  • Develops directives and policies consistent with the Commander's guidance and policies to ensure that mission requirements are met.
  • Coordinates work requiring engineering oversite and support from other offices with the Chief of Maintenance for overly complex projects.
  • Adjusts plans, assignments, and methods as necessary to accomplish the work as effectively and economically as feasible.
  • Develops performance standards, counsels employees on performance, and makes formal and informal performance appraisals.
  • Monitors production reports and records.

Conditions of Employment
  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Position requires a 12 month supervisory probationary period.
  • Responds to emergency calls after regular working hours.
  • This position requires temporary duty travel (TDY) of 20%.
  • May be required to work nights, weekends and/or rotational shifts.
  • Position requires a pre-employment physical exam due to the physical requirements of the position.
  • This position is covered by the Civilian Drug Abuse Testing Program.
  • The employee will drive a utility truck or similar vehicles. Incumbent must be able to obtain and keep current a valid state driver's license and any installation and/or DOD requirement for the type of vehicle being operated.
  • Position requires the incumbent to lift and carry materials weighing 40 pounds,
  • Assures that environmental, safety and housekeeping rules are followed.
  • Protective devices such as but not limited to ear plugs, safety glasses, respirators, gloves, hard hat and safety shoes is required.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a Mai tenance Mechanic Supervisor without more than normal supervision. Ability to perform common duties of overseeing supervisors and journeyman trades. Meeting of quality standards, production quotas and time deadlines. Utilizing established general written and oral instructions, policies, standard work procedures and sequence of operations. Scheduling and planning work operations for several projects involving machinery maintenance and repair. - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating.
