Responsibilities

Accountable for supervising the daily operations of the Environmental Services department to ensure optimal schedule and staffing level outcomes arerealized and are based upon census, acuity and budget. Incumbent is also responsible for ensuring sound financial oversight of operations. In addition the incumbent trains, evaluates and supervises staff in carrying out departmental and hospital policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities

  • Selects, trains and evaluates staff; Establishes and maintains department staffing and schedules, ensuring appropriate number of qualified/competent staff are available while maintaining cost effective staffing mixes and patterns; Ensures staff maintain facility with a high level of cleanliness and that department guidelines are followed

  • Monitors bed discharge cleaning needs and ensures that discharge beds are cleaned in a timely manner and with a high degree of quality; Monitors daily equipment use, cleaning and maintenance to ensure that all equipment is maintained in an appropriate working condition

  • Maintains department quality improvement program and oversees the quality of service delivered ensuring that units are survey ready at all times

  • Supervises the departmental inventory and allocation of resources as appropriate and ensures these follow hospital guidelines

Qualifications

Required Education and Experience

Required – High School diploma or equivalent. Required - 3 Years in Environmental Services.

Preferred Education and Experience

Preferred – 1 Year in supervisory level experience in supervising staff.

Required Licensure and Certifications

None

Preferred Licensure and Certifications

Certified Healthcare Environmental Services Professional (CHESP) certification preferred.

Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Training

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of team members and management.

  • Strong working knowledge of MS Office Suite, MS Project, PM software, and EVS software systems preferred.

  • Experience with typical EVS equipment/machinery

  • Demonstrates strong working knowledge of the principles of environmental infection prevention and control.

  • Demonstrates strong working knowledge of OSHA, TJC, DOT, CDC Policy and Standard Work development/implementation.

Pay Range

$25.25 - $36.61 /hour
