Advertising at Amazon is growing incredibly fast by providing efficient tools to drive sales for our vendors and sellers. These customers need tools and guidance that help them get the most from their advertising dollar in the least time. As a seasoned Applied Scientist on the CreativeX Reporting Experience team, you will research and build innovative new experiences that help advertisers get the most of their campaigns. You will also have the opportunity to apply current and emerging scientific methods that sets the standard for how systems use datasets to make decisions, solve customer problems, and scale through engineering and operational excellence. Your contributions will directly lead to new ad products, new generative AI experiences, and become the technology fabric for engineering teams. The CreativeX Reporting Experience team is responsible for the software and algorithms that hundreds of thousands of advertisers use to manage their advertising strategies on Amazon. These tools are also a fast evolving fabric that enable rapid development by teams across Ads. You will collaborate closely with our applied scientists and software leaders, influence technology direction, and contribute to new ads products that our global customers use daily. You will also bring deep knowledge of our systems to bear as you find ways to lead the design of data models, generative AI systems, and experimentation that manifests into AI technology that is exemplary in terms of robustness, quality, and scalability.

Great candidates for this role will have good communication skills and know how to work collaboratively. They enjoy defining and analyzing complex datasets to make decisions, build models that elevate the customer experience, influence architectural strategy, and take pride in solving customer problems. Most important, they will work shoulder-to-shoulder with other senior scientists, engineers, product leaders, and software development managers to deliver truly innovative our products.

Basic Qualifications

  • 3+ years of building machine learning models for business application experience

  • PhD, or Master's degree and 6+ years of applied research experience

  • Experience programming in Java, C++, Python or related language

  • Experience with neural deep learning methods and machine learning

  • Experience in partnering with product and program management teams

  • Experience with solving significantly complex problems and delivering to large scale architecture designs

  • Experience in building scalable systems based on web services

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with modeling tools such as R, scikit-learn, Spark MLLib, MxNet, Tensorflow, numpy, scipy etc.

  • Experience with large scale distributed systems such as Hadoop, Spark etc.

  • Sharp analytical abilities, proven design skills, excellent written and oral communication skills.

  • Strong sense of ownership, bias for action, urgency, and drive.

  • Experience using Amazon Web Services (AWS), Hadoop, Dynamo, Lambda, ElasticSearch or related technologies.
